Once again, AsiaFood Expo 2007, the biggest and most comprehensive expo for the food and beverage industry will unfold in September.  Local and International Exhibitors has confirmed their participation with AsiaFood Expo 2007 that will be held on September 5-8 at the World Trade Center.  An estimated 40,000 trade buyers and visitors are expected to converge at the AsiaFood Expo 2007.

More than 500 exhibitor companies-international and local- are set to showcase the latest technologies in the food industries.  Included in the exhibitors which will participate are the embassies and foreign national group spearheaded by the United States of Agricultural Trade Office, Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation, The Le Club French Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Taiwan Pavilion and also an information booth of The Netherlands Embassy.

Foreign exhibitors direct from other countries will also be displaying the latest technologies while big names in the local food and beverage industry and local counterparts representative will be showcasing the latest in packaging, food processing and machineries from all over the world.

Local counterparts which has organized group participation includes the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization (Philfoodex), Food Entrepreneurs and Exporters of the Philippines (FEOP), and Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT), that will coincide with their 46th National convention with a theme "Food Technology 2007: Better Food for All".  PAFT future looks at the needs of 21st century and the ever-changing world and accepts the challenge to further advance the understanding of food and nutrition.  Food Safety will be a prime concern of the PAFT that it will advocate through programs to promote HACCP and GMP in all sectors of the Food industry.  PAFT role will become even more important to uphold food safety.

ighlights of this year's event will be the final round of the Grand Barista Cup after the regional semi-finals that were held in Cebu and Davao for the Visayas and Mindanao area.  The country's best brew masters competing and disHplaying their individual skills on September 6 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on September 6 at 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Activity Area sponsored Allegro Beverage Corporation and DaVinci Gourmet Syrups & Sauces of Australia.

The Grand Barista Cup Champion will be awarded with a roundtrip plane ticket, accommodations and meal allowance to Singapore where the winner will officially represent the Philippines at the Asia Barista Cup in April 2008.  Trophies and cash prizes also await winners.  The winner of the Asian Barista Cup will represent Southeast Asia at the World Barista Cup in the US in July 2008.  Runner ups in the Semi-finals and finals will also await winners.  The winner of the Asian Barista Cup will represent Southeast Asia at the World Barista Cup in the US in July 2008.  Runner ups in the Semi-finals and finals will also receive cash prizes and gift certificates from the sponsors.  Likewise, the participating audience will take home goodies and gift items to liven up the mood of the competition.

Another highlight of the event is the showcase of the latest on food presentation, international cuisine and the updates on food technology by International Chef and renowned chef of the country.  The best of cake decorating and cake baking techniques wil be showcased by famous bakers of the country.  World Class speakers will talk about the latest trends on food and the updates on the state of the Art Machineries, equipments and Technologies on Food Processing, Packaging and Foodservice.

Around 27 foreign exhibitors will display their products during the four-day event.  The countries who joined the event are Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Since the AsiaFood started in 1991, the exhibitors and buyers has increased its number by 20% every year.  However, it would expect a tremendous increase by 30 to 40% this year because of the guests that guarantees attendance through online registration and reply form received by the organizers.

In 2006, AsiaFood Expo was participated by 472 exhibitors companies from 26 countries and attended by 38,164 trade buyer's visitors.  The logistic of the event firmly established AsiaFood Expo as the Philippine' most significant and most awaited food industry event.
